Lazy Week
I think I got hit with workout burnout .. its been just about 2 months since I started with my trainer .. and this week I blew off almost all of my cardio
I feel bad, but it was really nice to relax a little more. I still followed the diet, but left out the extra protein desserts, since I wasn’t making it to the gym. I did have a slight fever on Monday .. made it in for a half hour of light cardio Tuesday, also went to training on Wednesday .. but Thursday I got a new computer, and Friday I was still setting it up and Saturday .. well I just had too much fun.
Saturday I went shopping! Actually last weekend I went shopping at Gap.com and realized most of everything I bought was too big! So I met up with my mom, Liz and Ella at the mall Saturday .. exhanged some clothes from my online purchase .. and started trying on other things and realized I’ve dropped a size! I’ve been wearing 5/6 & 7/8’s for the past 4 years (after losing my extra college pounds) and this weekend I realized that I fit into 3/4’s!! I exchaged a pair of 6 jeans for a 4 (I believe Gap sizes run a little big, I’m sure I’m not a 4 in most stores .. but its still neat!) .. and fit into a 3/4 dress I found (but it was ugly). I haven’t been able to wear a 3/4 since early high school (I think) I also wear a small in shirts now, I mean, medium shirts are actually too big on me. I just can’t believe it!
Yesterday was also my diet “free day” which I’m totally starting to appreciate. Whenever I get a craving during the week I realize that I just have to make it to Saturday to enjoy my favorite treats. This Saturday I had cereal for breakfast, brick oven pizza for lunch, beer and fried shrimp for dinner and coffee ice cream for dessert. It was a lovely food day
Needless to say .. after yesterday I’m totally psyched to keep going and working hard at the gym. Hopefully I can avoid burnout in the future by switching up my workouts more often, and maybe keep trying on clothes to help gage my progress and motivate me ![]()
Weekend Update
Tuesday I officially started my diet. I picked Eating for Life from eDiets. A couple of years ago I joined iShape and realized how easy it was to follow a diet/exercise plan when somebody lays it all out for you on the internet. Anyways, I picked Eating for Life (over a dozen other diets) because it had 6 small meals (not just 3 + snack like most of the diets, I’m hungry all the time, that really wouldn’t work for me) plus I bought Body for Life a few years ago on recommendation from a friend, so I was familiar with the basics of the program. The reason why I didn’t really try the diet back then is because in the book I have, they use protein shakes a couple times a day. This Eating for Life eDiet still uses protein powder but in mixes like enriched chocolate pudding, chocolate mousse, and enriched french toast (surprisingly good). The plan also gives you 1 free food day (which I started last night, I figure a day could = 24 hours) .. in which you can eat anything you’d like. So I stuck with it this week, and it was pretty easy, although I did need some more time to prepare all my meals in the morning. A positive thing is that I’m learning to cook and Sean seems to be enjoying the dinners too
The result? Well Saturday is my official weigh in for the program, and I’m happy to report I am down 2 lbs from where I thought I was when I started. In actuality, I’ve lost 3 lbs since I started training (last week in June) and 4 lbs from the last time I was on the gym scale (2 - 3 weeks ago, that was the eye opener that I needed to fix my diet) .. So I’m totally psyched. Besides just weight, this week I put on a shirt I haven’t worn in over a month and it was noticeably looser over my chest and arms. And when I shaved this week I totally can tell my thighs are thinning out (YES!) .. so I’m super excited.
Today I’m off to get a manicure and pedicure (I could really use a massage too, the squats I did yesterday are killing me today!). Then have a few projects around the condo, and of course, a trip to the gym this evening. I’m actually looking forward to this upcoming week.
No commentsBelated Spring Cleaning!
I am a true procrastinator.. This week Sean and I somehow managed to finally buy a new vacuum (a dyson!), hang the blinds in our bedroom that I bought 2 months ago and have been sitting under the window the entire time, and hang curtains in our living room to replace the wood sliding panels liz had that kept getting stuck on the carpet. On top of that I did some laundry, cleaned out my closet and Sean made a trip to good will with stuff that’s been waiting to go since we moved back to FL last year. I really felt like I didn’t do much this weekend, but reading that list, I think we got alot done.
We also had a mini vacation at The Atlantic hotel down on Ft. Lauderdale beach. The hotel is amazing, if you’re ever looking for a place to splurge. We helped ourselves to the mini bar & room service, I enjoyed an awesome bubble bath, and we were both up to watch the sunrise over the ocean (stupid red bull & vodka kept me up all night, and I really only had 1 & a half weak glasses). Unfortunately because it was so spur of the moment I didn’t bring a camera, I wont make that mistake again
We checked out early, there’s nothing like napping a whole Saturday away in your own bed.
Amazing …
Yesterday’s Cardio:
10 min elliptical (warmup)
10 min level 4 stairmaster
10 min treadmill (slow)
4 min level 7 elliptical
2 min level 14 elliptical
repeat 5 times!!
Today’s Cardio:
10 min on bike (warmup)
4 min level 7 elliptical
2 min level 12 elliptical
1 min level 14 elliptical
repeat 5 times!!!
I can’t believe that a month ago I struggled to do 45 min at anything higher then a level 4. I have so much more energy then before, and I’m still having fun
Other news, Sean bought a hot red little mazda convertible. Its so much fun to drive, and especially fun to ride in. Both of us are starting to get tans (especially ugly eyeglass tans) so I’ll be slathering on the sunscreen from now on. I’m trying to convince him to take a roadtrip in it to the Keys sometime this summer, but it might be difficult since you cant fit the typical rolling carryon suitcase in the tiny trunk, and there’s no back seat
I’m sure we’d figure something out
Ella is starting to recognize me, she’ll stare at me for a while when I go to visit .. I’m positive she remembers me. She’s also smiling more often .. I’m sure she’s going to giggle at any moment! (can’t wait for that)
Anyways since a bunch of my friends have started blogs I decided to try to keep posting more often. (Don’t hold your breath
)
