The things on the wall are magnets .. all just regular fridge magnets .. they may not hold anything up .. but they def. stick!
A close up on the magnet stripe .. from far away you can’t see it, but up close you can def see the thickness difference.
Tomorrow I’ll go around doing little touch ups .. but the room is pretty much done. I really need to touch up the baseboards under where I painted the magnet paint, because I didn’t expect it to splatter at all, and of course I didn’t put tape down until after I finished the magnet paint. Oh well.Okay for the breakdown of the specifics .. the paint colors are Friendly Frog by Disney & Behr, and the blue is Sweet Rhapsody also Behr. The magnetic paint was from Rustoleum .. and was $20 for like a tiny quart. Somehow I managed to put 8 coats on my magnetic areas .. that’s right 8! And it seems to be holding up well. The only parts I probably would’ve done differently is not taped off my magnet paint .. the border of where the tape line is very distinct, I think I would’ve rather rolled out a smoother/tapered edge. And I should’ve properly preped and taped off the baseboards before starting with the magnet paint. I used dark hiding primer, and painted over the magnet paint first .. and then the whole room including the magnet part again, so those areas had 2 coats of primer since they were so dark. Also .. I found a new favorite painting tool. They have these ‘mini’ rollers .. 6.5″ .. as somebody who has little arm strength this was fantastic .. I had to refill it more often then the big heavy roller, but it seemed to splatter less, and they even had a telescoping version so I could easily reach the top of the room. I can’t recommend it enough!Over all I think it looks great and I’m really really happy with it overall! Now, I can’t wait to make some curtains
