Ugh .. so before I called Sears to cancel my appt .. I double checked to make sure the dryer was working again .. guess what .. it wont turn on. Good thing I checked ..

I think Crockpot cooking is my new favorite .. throw everything in and voila 8 hours later you have dinner .. cleanup is so easy too. The hard part is finding recipes I like (I’m so picky).
Today I picked something from Fix-it & Forget-it Lightly.

Baked Chicken Breasts (Nadine Martinitz)
I’ll let you know how it goes!
The wind is howling today .. knocked out the power a half a dozen times. And the dryer fixed itsself. Yep, after the first power outage I checked the dryer, and it was working fine. Even did a load of laundry today. I swear we reset all the breakers before calling Sears. Oh well. Tomorrow I’ll be canceling our appointment.
In other news … I steam cleaned our living room today .. woo hoo!! Having that carpet clean makes me so happy, you have no idea. Puppies are so gross. Thank you Keri for recommending this steam cleaner.
Also I renamed our guest room to the ‘garden room’ because I added a photo collage featuring some of my favorite flower/nature pictures.
Most of the pictures are from the Chihuly exhibit I went to. 2 of the frames are for 6×8 pictures, so for now they’ll look a little silly with 5x7s in them.
But to my surprise our dryer power button stopped working .. Luckily my first load was a small load of towels that we could easily hang up in our bathrooms. Today I called sears to have them come fix the problem, but the earliest appt the had was this Saturday
so now I’m spending this morning at a laundromat. This kinda reminds me of college .. Doing laundry in the dorms. Hopefully this will go quickly..
A few weeks ago I was enjoying a lazy Saturday by watching the History Channel in bed. Its one of my favorite things to do .. for some reason I just love to fall asleep to the History Channel, not because the stuff is boring, I find it all fascinating, but for some reason it completely relaxes me and clears my mind I guess. Except for that Saturday .. there was an episode of Decoding the Past on called Doomsday 2012. Basically they showed a bunch of predictions that point to the end of the world in possibly 2012 (and why they don’t point to 2012), including the bible and all major religions. But the two things that caught my attention was that the Mayan calendar ending on 12/21/2012, and supposedly (according to this program) that is the exact date that Earth (and the rest of our solar system) will cross the orbit of the center of our universe (a black hole?) .. anyways .. nobody really knows what crossing that orbit will do, but nothing this program had to say about it sounded very good (polar shift, good bye magnetic fields, hello asteroids). Anyways .. I dont want to blog about if 2012 will be the end of the world or not .. I mean really, how many times have we heard the end is near in our lifetime .. y2k anyone? But what got me thinking .. this is a pretty wide open question .. if you had 5 years left, would you do anything different?
Seriously .. you could have 5 years until cancer gets you, or a car accident or any of a gazillion morbid scenarios .. but just for the sake of discussion, the world you know is ending in 5 years .. would you do anything different?
I’ve asked myself that many times over the past few weeks (since watching that stupid program, which I really enjoyed) .. and the only thing I kept thinking I would do is wait until 2013 to have kids. I mean, its only 5 years away .. and I’m not even sure I want children (I love kids, but the dogs have opened my eyes) .. so why not wait 5 years, just to make sure. I hope I don’t offend anybody in anyway .. this is just something that’s been rolling around in my head for weeks.
I’d love to hear if anybody else out there has a thought about what they’d change if they had 5 years left … leave comments!
If anybody out there is curious about 2012 .. there’s a Discovery Channel program in November that sounds almost exactly like the Decoding the Past episode.
Doomsday 2012: End of Days
Sun., Nov. 18 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PTThere are various prophecies and oracles from around the world that seem to point to December 21, 2012 as Doomsday. The ancient Mayan Calendar, the medieval predictions of Merlin, the Book of Revelation and the Chinese oracle of the I Ching all forecast this specific date as the end of civilization. A new technology called “The Web-Bot Project” undertakes massive scans of the Internet as a means of predicting the future… and this new technology has turned up the same dreaded date: 2012. Skeptics point to a long history of “failed Doomsdays,” but many oracles of doom throughout history have a disturbingly accurate track record. As the year 2012 ticks ever closer, this one-hour special speculates whether there are credible reasons to believe these doomsayers.
Its 68 degrees outside, and the sky is covered completely in clouds. The pups and I made a trip to the dog park to get some exercise and enjoy the cool weather. Earlier this week I brought them to the park because they were just insanely running around the house. It was bright and sunny in Grant but I could see some dark clouds to the west (where the park is). I decided to risk it anyways .. thinking we could get a little playtime in before the rain came. I was wrong. When I pulled up to the park I ran the dogs upto the gate .. put them in the waiting area and ran back to the car for my umbrella and the downpour started. I swear it must’ve rained 5 inches in the 3 minutes we were out of the car! The park attendant pulled up and said there was lightning in the area and we have to stay in our cars, the park is closed. While he was talking to us .. I was trying to get the leashes on the pups while holding an umbrella that was just small enough to let all the water pour off it, right down the back of my pants. When I finally got their leashes on I tried to get them to walk around a bit so they might ‘use the facilities’ since it took us a half hour to get there. But they just looked up at me with these super sad faces like ‘what are you doing to us’. So I decided to get them back in the car and just go home .. so I try to get them into their crate in the backseat and of course they dont climb in it right away and shake themselves off all over my nice leather seats. (All while my back half hangs out the door of the backseat, getting soaked) Finally I wrangle them into their crate, zip it up .. and get on the road .. soaked to the bone. I thought the worse was over .. but not even half way home they some how managed to get the crate unzipped and were rolling all over the back seat, shaking off the water, jumped into teh front seat and proceeded to roll over the passenger seat to dry off! I was livid! If I pulled over to try to get them back in their crate I would get soaked again .. so I just let them do their thing .. put the AC up to 83 and focused it on the feet .. and they chilled out and dried off eventually .. and luckily the car still doesn’t smell too much like dog.
Lots of updates today .. nothing like a cloudy day to get you to stay inside and blog
Another successful sewing night! Today I put together what hopefully will be Big Boy’s halloween costume, although it needs alot of altering. Hopefully I’ll be able to fix it and get Little Girl’s costume together tonight or tomorrow. Tuesday I also made my first quilt .. its not complete because I decided I want to add batting that didn’t come with the quilt .. but that’s the only part missing.

Its pretty cool that we can watch the shuttle launches from our backyard …
The past couple of day have been super busy .. Wednesday night I trekked down to South Florida. I had a Dr. appt, a hair appt, an Ella appt and a photoshoot all scheduled this trip
Thursday I took care of the me appointments, where my Dr. frowned upon me gaining 10 lbs since my visit last year .. blah. Then at my hairdresser I decided I needed a change .. so I picked a haircut from a book and chopped off about 7 inches (see picture in previous post). She used a razor blade to do it .. which was pretty cool. It took me a few days to get used to it, and find the right product to handle it .. but now I’m pretty happy, and its really easy to manage too! (No hair dryer for now). Friday mom and I kept Ella home to hang out with us and made a trip to the new IKEA.

It seemed smaller then the one I’ve been to in CA. But I think its because there were alot of people there. The main aisles were pretty easy to navigate, but if you step off the path to get a closer look at something, you could easily get stuck behind a herd of people. We enjoyed a little lunch in their cafeteria and I picked up a big tube for the puppies to play in (they love it btw).
Friday night I had dinner with Kerri and got caught up on what she’s been upto
Saturday I dropped in on Tim & Annette and got to see tiny Gavyn and Brynn, who I can’t believe is 6 years old. I think I even scored points with her by bringing her a Hanna Montana doll.

Then Liz, Ella and I headed up to Christina’s to take a few pictures of little Kaitlyn .. I think I got some awesome shots of Kaitlyn .. I can’t wait to finish them up
I wish I had gotten more of Zach but I showed up right at naptime, oh well.

Overall I had a great weekend, although very busy and I’m very glad to be home relaxing a little bit.
I just finished up this diaper bag for Gavyn Eising .. it probably my most advanced project I’ve done yet .. but I think it came out alright
It has 2 pockets for diapers and wipes, 2 smaller pockets for your cellphone, a detachable & insulated bottle holder, and 2 zippered pockets (my first time with zippers, yay!) and its all compact and cool enough for even daddy to use.
After finishing the Eising’s bag, I decided to throw something together for Ella since I’m heading down for a visit this afternoon. My machine does embroidery, but before this morning, I could not get it to work right for the life of me. All that changed today though, I apparently was using the wrong needle. Anyway, here’s my personalized, reversible, and fuzzy little bag for Ella
