I feel like a master chef!

Tonight I cooked 2 dinners, including making homemade croûtons! Ok .. so all I did for the croûtons was cut up some really stale bread, tossed them in a baggie with some dried parsley, oregano, and olive oil .. then spread them on a cookie sheet and baked them for 10 min .. but they came out alright (just wish I had remembered some garlic powder). But I made Sean a grilled chicken ceaser salad and myself some fajitas and both came out great. Sean even got involved and topped his salad with tons of cheese, it looked beautiful! Anyways I just had to brag :P Its nice to be home.

Happy Birthday Puppies!

Today the puppies turn 1 year old!!!

They apparently had a rough night last night, and so did I. Since they joined our family, the puppies go to bed (their crates in our bedroom) right around 10pm, and usually I head to bed sometime between 10 and 11. This past week I’ve been staying up late to work on stuff, and they keep getting up around 11 or later. I’m pretty sure they miss my snoring :P Anyways last night while I was tossing and turning in Tampa, Sean was up til 3am working and everytime Sean put the dogs in their crates they were crying a half hour later. And its not like they wanted to get up and play, they just slept on top of him while he tried to work .. apparently he eventually gave in .. and fell asleep with them on the couch.

Inspired Sunday

Not sure what got us motivated .. but some how Sean and I managed to complete a bunch of projects around the house, in relatively no time at all. Sean took down all our outside lights and decorations, and packed them up for next year. I put away the last of the Christmas stuff, hung my little bird wind chimes Liz got me for Christmas, built my new IKEA bookcase, hung an ironing board hanger and hung up a candle holder. Sean also hung up our door knocker from Nana last year, and one of our 2 mirrors that fill up our giant foyer wall. Yes, we now have a door knocker on the inside of our door, but Liz also got us a door knocker last year, engraved with our names on it, so we decided that one should go outside. I’m sure we’ll get around to hanging it soon, hopefully not another whole year.

Here are a few pictures of our projects today :)

Here’s my old candle holder up where the card holder was

Getting ready for a road trip!

Making a mini road trip to the other side of the state tomorrow. There’s a photography convention and one of my printing labs gave me a free pass to the expo floor, so I decided to take advantage and go check it out. So I’ll be getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and heading west :)

In other news .. last night I made a trip to IKEA with Nikki. I needed a bookcase for the craft room, and she needed some inspiration .. both missions were accomplished, and we had a great time.

Here are a couple cute pictures of the puppies I found on my camera

Isn’t it strange how big boy’s eyes reflect blue, while little girls are green?

Hibernating

So we’re having a major cold spell down here .. coldest temperatures in over 5 years, and they’re saying we could have snow flurries out here on the coast! The highs today barely got above 50 today and they’re saying 55 is our high tomorrow. Days like this make me wish we had a big fireplace.

Anyways .. I spent a few extra hours in bed today trying to stay warm, as did the puppies :) I did manage to get out this afternoon to pick up some makings for dinner tonight and a beef stew tomorrow, yummy!

I hope everybody is staying warm :)

Happy New Year!!

I’m just a little freaked out by the fireworks going off in the area. Don’t get me wrong, I love fireworks, but living out here in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by grasses that could be very flammable, I just totally sent myself into a panic attack right after midnight. I mean really .. say one firework lands way back in the woods behind the house and happens to catch something on fire, how the heck would we find out that there’s a fire on its way .. only when the smoke detectors go off in the house? Anyways I started making mental lists of everything I’d have to throw in the car, where to find our important files, how the heck would I be able to lift the new computer .. and I realized that I was now wide awake and probably will be for a few hours. What a way to start the new year .. blah.

Realistically, the land we live on is wetlands, and we had a pretty wet late summer / fall, plus the fireworks were probably on US1, they sounded really far away. I just worked myself up for nothing, and I’m sure that as soon as I see that there are no fires in my line of sight I’ll calm down and be able to go back to sleep.

I hope everybody had a rocking New Years, and I hope 2008 is a great year for everybody!!
