Weekend Recap

Ella & Halle

I’m bringin’ back the weekend recap :)

Liz & Ella came up Friday for a weekend of fun. As is our tradition, we did some cooking. Friday we made tomato, basil mozzarella paninis that were just so good we both at two! I also cooked up a bunch of sliders (mini burgers) for dinner that were so adorable and very delicious. I might have to blog that recipe soon. Then we flopped down on the couches and watched Sex and the City.

Saturday Nikki, Halle & Elena came over to go to the Grant BBQ Fest. We had picked up a 10×10 tent for the occasion (realizing that it would come in very handy for Seafood Fest, Hive and many other gatherings), but we didn’t really think about how hard it would be to carry it, plus chairs for everybody, plus diaper bags, coolers and purses. Eventually we found a spot, some guys helped us set up and we really enjoyed our afternoon of BBQ & music. Ella didn’t stop running the entire time we were there. Seriously I had no idea how much energy that girl had. She wore me out just watching her. We packed up a little after noon and headed home. Nikki and the girls hung out for a bit before naptime, its always cute to watch Halle and Ella interact. [pictures]

Saturday night we had a real girls night out when the dads decided to stay home with the little ones. Keri, Belle, Nikki, Halle, Liz, Ella and I had an nice dinner at Outback. The cutest part was when the three girls did a group hug when leaving to go home. So adorable!

Sunday was a day for relaxing .. and recovering, I’m sooooo sore from lugging our gear to the Q Fest. (I’m seriously out of shape). Eventually we made a trip to Joanns where I was inspired to make a couple projects, but when I got home I realized I have soo much to do this week I have no idea when I’ll get to them. Hopefully I’ll breeze through my Hive preparations and be able to do some fun stuff.

Next Sunday (the 5th) I head to New Orleans for a photography workshop, I come back Wednesday night, Disney Thurs, Hive Fri-Mon. Should be a CRAZY week!

Oh and an update on my jaw.. incase you were curious. My Dr. diagnosed me with TMJ. No, I dont grind my teeth, I didn’t get punched in the face, the only thing I can think that might’ve caused this is yawning :( She said if I still have pain by Monday (tomorrow) that I should call and she’ll do some additional testing. As of tonight, I still have pain.

Catching up

Wednesday September 24th, 2008 at 5:40 pm

In a week and a half from today I’ll be heading to New Orleans for a photography workshop that I’ve been looking forward to for months. I can’t believe its almost here!! On top of that, the day I get back Hive starts up, so today I started to organize things to make this a bit easier when crunch time comes. Next week I’ll start the cleaning, but luckily things aren’t so out of control because of my big clean just a few weeks ago. But this time I will have to clean my office (one of the guest rooms), you can barely see the top of my desk!

In other news .. tomorrow I’m heading back to the Dr. I’ve been having bad jaw pain since Monday. Its not tooth related and pain gets worse when I open my mouth (rather then biting down on something, which would suggest the problem is with my teeth). Anyways .. hopefully its nothing, but gosh darn it, its freaking annoying (and painful to even talk, not to mention eat)! I think I’m going to end up having pancakes for dinner, nice, soft pancakes.

Liz and Ella are coming for a visit this weekend. I can’t wait!

If you have to get out of bed at the crack of dawn

Monday September 15th, 2008 at 8:51 am

to take your dogs out 2 hours earlier then they usually get up. I hope you get to see something like this ..

Moon

Some strange reason Daisy decided she had to pee at 6:30 am this morning. I finally gave in when she kept crying after 10 minutes of ssssshhhhhing. But I’m glad she did, because I got to see this full moon out over our back yard. Of course the photo doesn’t do it justice, but at least I have something to recall it.

9-11

Thursday September 11th, 2008 at 9:37 am

I had a blog back in 2001. It was mostly rants about my breakup with my college boyfriend and all the nutso emotional stuff that goes along with something like that. So, when the hosting service went out of business sometime ago, I wasn’t at all sad to see it go. But yesterday I remembered it had my Sept 11th post. Not that I wrote anything meaningful or powerful, I just recorded my day, as it really happened. Today I visited the wayback machine and of a handful of posts it managed to capture from that site, my Sept. 11th post was saved. So .. here it is.

9-11-2001 - unbelievable

I cant believe this. I woke up this morning to my voice mail ring. Mom left me a message. “hi hon, just calling to see what they are doing up there .. horrible horrible situation.” I didnt know what to think. I called my mom and I turned the tv on to see one of the world trade towers collapse. So then my day of hanging on every word the news could tell me started. I just watched and listened as the details of the planes crashes and the buildings collapsing unfolded. I picked mike up at school and went with him to Oggy’s house. We watched .. and talked about what could be next. Still not letting it sink in. We went to pick up our football tickets and we learned that classes had been cancelled for the day. Then I went back with mike to his house and watched some more. No new information.. just the same chaos. I stared at the tv while the cnn guys repeated the the same news over and over again. And then I started to cry. I dont think it was for the massive amount of human life that was ended today. But for fear, of what might happen next. The stress of the day, and the thoughts running through my head started to make me sick, and I couldnt stop crying, silently. Then the news announced blood will be needed, and they said from any location in the United States. So I grabbed my stuff and drove straight to citivan. When I got there the line was pretty long. 10 min after I got there the line had doubled. There were people passing out pizza, cookies and juice. They passed out numbers, I was 285. One guy behind me remarked that this was like standing in line at the deli at publix. Now serving 237. Three local radio stations were there helping spread the word. I stood in the line, through rain. After 2.5 hours I finally got inside. The lines outside were still huge. And then I heard the wait would be another 2-4 hours. I had to go home. I couldnt stand anymore .. I was exhausted. So I talked to a nurse and got the numbers so I could come back later. Then I went home. And again .. I flipped through tv news stations. Learning more and not being any more comforted. I took a shower and talked to mike. Called drew to check on adam, who is okay. And then it started to sink in again. And the crying started again. It comes and goes. Now I think its because we are at war. And then, I feel hopeless. I know our country will come together. I’m worried about how many more lives will be lost, and how it will affect my family, and friends. I made an appointment to donate blood tomorrow morning, 7am. I know I’ll get up for that. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight. I’ll be thinking about all the people in NY and praying for them, in my own way. God, help us all.
