I think she missed me
Regressing
Since I started teaching more .. my dogs have seriously started regressing. I don’t know if its separation anxiety .. or just that maybe they don’t get let out as much during the day (though I know they can hold it .. most days I’m home they go 4-6 hours between trips out) .. but I’ve found more then a few ‘accidents’ when I come home from work. We’ve always had problems with potty training, so I’m not too bothered by it .. but what does bother me is Daisy’s new found love of stealing and chewing.
Yes, they have also always chewed socks and pants .. but since I’ve been good about keeping the pants off the floor lately, and Sean has been not so good about keeping socks off the floor lately .. there has been a HUGE surge in the number of his socks where the toes have gone missing! I’m talking 10 – 15 socks everytime I do a load of laundry will go right into the trash. So .. I’ve been trying to go around and pick up socks every day for the past week or two. Now .. Daisy is stealing anything she can get off my desk! I found remnants of a pencil under the futon, I’ve caught her stealing a bandage wrap off my desk .. and numorus packaging materials that I don’t notice they’re gone because they really are garbage .. but to her .. they’re a treasure. Today when I walked into my office to turn on the computer she rushed in (door has been closed all day) grabbed a red sharpie from some where and ran it out to her bed in the living room.
Its totally a game, for attention .. and I know its because I’m gone most of the day .. and when I come home I get on the computer, into the kitchen or sometimes clean house .. I hardly ever end up on the couch watching TV with them anymore .. and I cant even remember the last time we went to the dog park .. but I know it was last year
So I’m off to go take them for a walk .. and then a trip to PetSmart to see if I can find some bones they wont finish in 10 minutes .. and if I don’t pick up a job tomorrow, I’m going to make a real effort to take them to the dog park
Here’s a random picture of Ella in a pretty dress .. she’ll be wearing this at Liz’s friend Rachel’s wedding this April. Liz is the maid of honor and I’ll be photographing the wedding .. it will be a total family affair!
Daisy’s Tales
Last weekend I found a bunch of new photographer friends who happen to maintain blogs for their dogs. I’ve been in love with Dooce’s Daily Chuck for sometime now .. and I know I dont take enough pictures of my puppies .. so .. in an effort to do that .. I updated Daisy’s Tales and hopefully I’ll keep up with it. There’s no way I’m going to have a daily picture of my pups .. because lets face it .. neither of them can balance things on their head [see: Chuck] .. but hopefully I’ll update once or twice a week
[Daisy's Tales]

How cute is he!
I’m just going to repost what I just posted over on my photo blog .. this guy is too adorable not to share with everybody
I brought my camera to the dog park this afternoon hoping to catch some recent pictures of my 2 little ones then this guy showed up. He’s only 14 weeks old and soooo tiny!
Here he is hanging out with Daisy, she was really gentle with him.
This yorkie is smaller then my mini dachshunds. With 3 chihuahuas and this yorkie, Big Boy & Daisy were close to the biggest dogs in the park
Well here’s one shot I got of Big Boy
And one of Daisy, and surprise, I caught her with her eyes closed. I swear this dog closes her eyes for the camera on purpose, she’s almost impossible to photograph! I have a whole photo album with pictures of Daisy with her eyes shut.
Big Pup
For some reason, after our last trip to south florida, Big Boy decided that he no longer wanted to jump off the bed. That is a really good thing, since dachshunds are really prone to back problems as they get older. Though I think he might’ve pulled something running after Rocky or Nia, in any case, he learned that if he whined (and by whined, I mean a super high pitched wiener dog bark), one of us would come and rescue him and place him safely on the ground. He also started to use his stairs, but only if it took one of us too long to get to him. Now .. its been at least 2 weeks of this .. and he’s realized that yelping on the bed is a fantastic way to get a human to come pay attention to him. He’ll yelp and scream (I mean the dog really sounds like he’s in pain if you’ve never heard it before), and I’ll rush in there to help him down. As soon as I reach the side of the bed he starts jumping all over the blankets and pillows, tail wagging furiously, nipping at my fingers and taunting me with a play bow .. yes it gets annoying .. but its sooooo cute! He’s learned to manipulate the system to his advantage very quickly
Now if he would just learn to cry at the door when he needs to go out
Mummy Dog
I turned around Friday to find Big Pup had wrapped himself up like this
He wiggled out of it a few seconds after these pics.
Watched a bunch of movies this weekend .. Charlie Wilson’s War, Lars & the Real Girl, There Will Be Blood and Reign Over Me. I enjoyed all of them & LOVED Charlie Wilson’s War
Fan Art
This site is lacking in photos ..
Today I realized my site looks really boring right now .. here are a few puppy pics I snapped today:
Driving Miss Daisy
She would ride like this everywhere if I let her ..
But right after we took that picture (still on our dirt road), both dogs were moved to the safety of their car carrier
Big Pup loves to model ..
He comes and tells me to get the camera
Then Daisy does things like this to take my attention away (and big pup’s)
And she always demands to be the center of attention
pay attention to MEEEEEEEEEEEE
Much Better
Thank you to all my well wishers. A day in bed was all I needed, yesterday I got up and cleaned the house, did all the laundry and even joined my neighbors for their Memorial Day BBQ for a bit. Although hanging out in the hot sun really took its toll on me, so I ended up taking a nap and woke up to Sean making chicken soup from scratch! It was a good day
Then, we let Daisy out around 8pm, but she didn’t come back in off the porch. When I went out to check on her, I found her with her nose buried in a coffee mug Sean had left on the patio table. She came in .. ran around .. then curled up with us by 10pm. We were totally shocked she wasn’t wired. She was sound asleep in her crate by 11.
But a little before 3am she started whining, and crying .. and no amount of ‘Daisy, sleep’, ‘shhhhh’ (Dog Whisperer) or ‘uh ah’ (It’s Me or the Dog) would get her to stop. Soon I realized she was panting. So I dragged myself out of bed and let her out onto the porch. She started running back and forth from inside the room to the porch like a crazy dog. Once she stopped in the room so I thought she was ready to go back to bed, but when I stood up she sprinted out to the porch again. So I decided to let her out into the yard. I have no idea if it was the coffee or if the dog was just nuts .. but she just hopped around in the yard looking for frogs and didn’t care that I was standing there in my PJs dying to go back to sleep. After 10 min I opened the door and called her in and she sprinted back through the door. I curled back up in bed, and listened to her run around the house. But to my surprise she was sleeping on me within 5 minutes. Of course she woke me up at 7:15am demanding her breakfast like every other morning.
