As you all know .. I have lots of photos .. lots and lots of personal and professional photos and I’m always looking for ways to protect them .. Last year I was all about Flickr .. but their interface leaves alot to be desired .. Kodak Gallery has always been a favorite for most of my friends .. but Kodak is canceling that service .. which means a few of you will be looking for other places to store your full resolution images in a place where your friends and families can see them .. and order prints ..
I’m going to investigate Picasaweb again .. I’ve used it off and on .. I think I chose flickr over picasa last time I had this debate because flickr offered tagging and geolocation .. but it looks like Picasa has implemented those as well as other new features that make me want to give it a second chance ..
Give me a few weeks and I’ll let you know how it goes
All of you out there looking for a replacement for your Kodak Gallery, please let me know what you have found .. thanks!
[UPDATE] – I realized that Kodak Gallery is still an okay place to store & share your photos .. they added a new ‘share on facebook’ feature .. but they dont really give you a page like the classic kodak gallery did that lists all your albums .. their new slide show is much faster then the old method though .. its nicely done.
For the first time in months, I’m updating this blog. Working and traveling as much as I have lately I haven’t taken the time to update this site. I have however updated Twitter & Facebook .. so today I’ve been researching ways to tie those two sites into this blog here .. so that I can feel like there’s a purpose of having this site ..
I’ve come across a few plugins that you may want to check out:
Fotobook – Fotobook downloads your albums from Facebook and adds them to a page on your wordpress blog. You can see my album [here].
Next up .. twitter .. I already had a twitter widget that posts my updates in my sidebar .. but since I’m not really writing full blog posts right now .. I decided to find something that will download my ‘tweets’ and post them. [Twitter Tools] by Alex King makes this really simple. It has a bunch of tools besides what I was looking for, including a sidebar widget, a twitter update box in the dashboard and it will update twitter when you post a new blog post (all easily turned off or on).
I’m still looking for a way to consolidate my facebook and flickr photos .. maybe I’ll have to move my flickr photos to facebook .. will let you know if I find anything good ..
UPDATE: Last night I discovered [flickr copy] a facebook application that copies photos you have on flickr and puts them onto facebook. I tried with on of my ‘sets’ and it was flawless
Now I can keep my high resolution images on flickr and have a way to share them on facebook.
